Rasha Adly
The Last Days of the Pasha, 2024 Longlist

Rasha Adly is an Egyptian writer, born in Cairo in 1972. She is a researcher and freelance lecturer in the history of art, and Cairo correspondent for the Emirates Culture magazine. She is the author of ten novels: The Clamour of Silence (2010), Life is Not Always Rosy (2013), The Tattoo (2014), Confused Women (2014), The Shores of Departure (2016), Passion (2017), IPAF-longlisted in 2018, and The Last Days of the Pasha (2019), IPAF-longlisted in 2020, The Night Train to Tel Aviv (2021) and You Shine…You Light Up (2022). Passion was published in English in 2020 as The Girl with Braided Hair and won the 2021 Saif Ghobash Banipal Prize for Arabic Literary Translation, before being longlisted for the 2022 Dublin Literary Award. Rasha Adly is also the author of several academic studies, including: Cairo, the City and Memory (2012) and Art fills the eye: Women in the History of Art (2023).
