Hasan Kamal

Hasan Kamal is an Egyptian novelist and doctor, born in Egypt in 1975. He holds a doctorate in medicine and supervises the Egyptian Olympic teams. He has published three short story collections: Egyptian Koshary (2008), The Stings of the Clock Hands (2010), and Pharaoh Was a Nice Man (2013). He won the Egyptian El Sawy Culture Wheel Award for short stories three times in a row, and the 2010 Sawiris Cultural Award for Egyptian Koshary. He is also the author of four novels: The Departed (2013), The Masters (2015), I Forgot the Password (2017) and The Stolen Novel (2024), as well as a satirical book entitled Those Who Wore the White Coat (2016). He wrote part of the Egyptian TV series Except Me, and a radio programme called Egypt Is the Last Thing. Some of his short stories have been translated into German and Italian.
