Bachir Mefti
The Mingling of the Seasons, 2020 Longlist

Bachir Mefti is an Algerian writer, born in 1969 in Algiers. He graduated from the College of Arabic Language and Literature, the University of Algeria, and works as a journalist, editing the “Al-Athar” supplement of the Algeria News newspaper. He is also the editor of cultural programmes on Algerian television and is the Algerian correspondent for the London-based Al-Hayat newspaper. A number of his novels have been published in French and chapters from them have appeared in English and Italian. His works include: Toy of Fire (2010), which was IPAF-shortlisted in 2012, Ghosts of the Murdered Town (2012), Room of Memories (2014), The Game of Happiness, or The Short Life of Mourad Zahir (2016), and Mingling of the Seasons (2019), IPAF-longlisted in 2020.
